My daughter and her class had an interesting and fun filled field trip at the zoo. I attended as a chaperone. I knew just the book to take with me to wild release there. It was called Supermom: Inspirational Words on Motherhood by Sian Keogh. It is a small picture book with color photos of wild baby animals with their mothers. I love themed releases. I left the book on a statue of a little girl reading a book (another theme tie-in) and took a picture to include in my journal entry.

After a few days with no journal entry, I assumed maybe the zoo staff picked it up and put it in the lost and found or perhaps someone had taken it home to enjoy without journaling. So the journal entry I received on this book was a fun surprise.

This was so fun! My 7 year old daughter found this in front of the polar bears, sitting on a statue of a little girl reading a book. We looked at it, read it at home and loved the idea of continuing the cycle! We are planning to release it at King's Island to see how far the book can travel.

This was exciting enough, and I thought it was cute that someone had picked it up with a child my daughter's age, and they were sharing it. Then almost immediately after receiving the journal entry, another mom from the class sent me an email. She wondered if I was Guinaveve on BookCrossing. She thought she had remembered seeing the name in connection with me somewhere. She had indeed. I have a BC link at the bottom of all of my outgoing email messages and that link contains my BC screen name. She and her daughter had been the ones to pick up the book at the zoo. Maybe I should have suspected it was someone else from the field trip, but there were so many other people there that day that it never crossed my mind. I was pleased to see she had joined BC and has taken the book to another popular tourist place in the area, an amusement park. The book was picked up there and journaled by another person who joined and was delighted with the with idea of finding "a book about Moms, in an area for kids, while with vacationing with family."

The first little girl to find the book with her mom is good friends with my daughter and the kids both got a kick out of it once they realized the coincidence. I thought, "Hey, maybe everyone else at BookCrossing will too!"
