Bally Carols in Athens

by mmjrules
January 4, 2006
On December 24, BookCrossers from Athens decided to sing carols…but the Bally-Carols rather than traditional Christmas carols!

We gathered books and our singing voices and met in the center of the holiday-decorated Athens to spread the seasonal feeling of joy and giving! Our stage was the Byzantine church of Panagia Kapnikarea, in the heart of Athens’ most popular shopping zone, Ermou street. We propped our books and our BookCrossing advertisement on the wall and began singing the carols to attract people. But rather than collecting money, we were informing them about BookCrossing.com and giving them books and flyers.

In two and a half hours we gave away a little more than 100 books, hopefully passing along the idea of BookCrossing and a little extra joy for an unexpected present!

BookCrossers who took part in the event are aaouts, alaleon, anonik, apapsa, areir, aris1, axenbax, deadendmind, Ermis, marianab, mmjrules, PinkManager, travellinglight and robbergirl.

You can find additional fotos from the event here and here!

We wish to the whole BookCrossing community Merry Christmas and a happy, creative and full of books 2006!
