BookCrossing courier service works!
Books travelling from hand-to-hand across Finland

We active BookCrossers in Finland use each other quite often and sometimes even tease each other with heavy burden. You see, we have a "BookCrossing courier service".
If you want to send some heavy reading, big book or many of them, you won't necessarily want to use the Postal Service. Mainly because sending via mail costs lots of money. And of course there is always a tiny possibility of that package getting lost in the
mail or arriving damaged. So it is nice to have an alternative choice, isn't it?
Distances between cities are long here in Finland, but many of us travel a lot between these cities. Some have studies in big cities, but family in tinier cities far away. And some of us have friends to see in other cities and of course some people just like
to travel. Naturally people have to travel because of work.
So.. many of us Finnish BookCrossers have announced that we can take books from point A to B sometimes, others more regularly than others. And in point B there can be someone to take the precious package to point C. In a couple of cities we have regular get-togethers
and in those happenings it is easy to deliver some books. Naturally all people do not want to participate in these meetings, but we couriers get to meet them more privately, perhaps in a coffee shop or something like that. And perhaps these tiny meetings between
courier and receiver lead to encouragement to meet bigger groups also.
The courier service isn't perfect, because some areas are more inactive than others. But perhaps those areas will activate in time too, and our courier service will get even better.
It would be so perfect if these courier chains could work between our neighbours Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Russia etc. I don't know if there has been need to transport books from Finland to those countries, but hey, perhaps the need waits the connection to be
born.
