The long way to my own OBCZ

Die Idee zur Eröffnung einer OBCZ bei uns an der Uni hatte ich schon recht früh. Lediglich die Umsetzung dauerte etwas länger. Nur der Ort stand für mich schon immer ziemlich fest: Das Kulturcafe der Uni. Da ich schon immer etwas schüchterner war, habe ich zu Anfang alles per E-Mail gemacht. Nur leider haben sich die Betreiber des Cafes bzw. der AStA nicht auf meine Anfragen gemeldet.
Schon fast hatte ich die Hoffnung aufgegeben, bis im Frühjahr diesen Jahres ein neuer AStA gewählt wurde. An diesen hatte ich im August nochmal probeweise eine Mail geschickt mit der Frage, ob eine OBCZ in ihren Räumen eventuell in Frage käme. Und ja: Die Idee fänden sie gut, nur wären die Betreiber des Cafés nicht da und das Kulturcafe geschlossen. Also wieder Warten bis Mitte September. Heute nun bin ich zusammen mit blups25 dorthin gegangen, um die Sache mit der OBCZ persönlich zu besprechen. Und wie es der Zufall so wollte, standen die Sterne gut für uns: Es war nicht nur das Interesse da, sondern auch ein Regal für die Bücher und sogar eine Bedienung, die schon vom Bookcrossing gehört hatte. Nun hat Bochum eine weitere OBCZ und ich ein wenig mehr Arbeit.

I got the idea of starting an OBCZ somewhere on the university campus quite early, but the realisation of it took some time. The preferred place for the OBCZ also was quite clear from the beginning on: The Culture Cafe. I have always been a little shy, so I did all the first contacts via email. The only problem: No one ever responded to my requests, neither the people managing the cafe nor the Student Union.
I had given up hope, but in April a different Student Union got elected. So I sent an email again, raising the idea of having something like an OBCZ in their rooms. And now I made it: they like the idea; the only problem is the managers of the cafe are not there because of the cafe's holidays. Again I had to wait until the middle of September. So today I went there with blups25 to talk to them about the OBCZ. And it was a lucky day for us: they were not only interested in BookCrossing, but they also had a proper shelf and a waitress who already heard about BookCrossing. Bochum now has another OBCZ and I have a bit more work.
