From Paris, Texas to Paris, France

One author's vicarious thrills over well-traveled books

Confession time here. As an author, I periodically log on to BookCrossing to see how my books are doing. One of the few thrills of this solitary writing life is finding out people are actually reading your words, and passing them on to others. What’s out there this week, and where? Who’s reading the books and what are they saying?

What I’ve learned is that my books are considerably better traveled than I am. Cindi Myers novels have been freed in Paris, Texas and Paris, France. They’ve made their way across Australia –- a country I long to visit one day. They’ve been enjoyed in Canada, Puerto Rico, and across the United States.

One is in the permanent collection of a reader in Tehran, Iran, while another has been sent to our troops in Afghanistan. My books have been given out at post offices, libraries and nursing homes.

When someone posts that one of my books has made their permanent collection, I cheer. But it’s almost as exciting when someone else posts a book was a good read and they want to pass it on. So many good books – so little shelf space! I love the thought that someone else will enjoy books I’ve already enjoyed.

I write in order to share my stories with readers. BookCrossing helps me do that.

Oooh, another one of my books just showed up in Georgia. I can’t wait to see where it ends up next.
