Books That Won't Leave The Nest

Ever had a stubborn book that just didn’t want to leave?

The first book I released just didn’t want anyone but me.

It was a really good read, and I released it in the dentist's office. At my next appointment, the dental assistant wanted to know was it mine, because it seemed like my writing and no one else was claiming it.

I was confronted with the book again at my last appointment. I wouldn’t own up because I wanted someone else to pick it up while waiting and get hooked like I did. But alas! No joy, as there’s not a second journal entry yet.

I've learned my lesson -- don’t release in the dentist's office unless it's definitely your last appointment; disguise your writing and use a nickname that could never be linked back to you. Many of us make the mistake of using our real nickname or a name that’s linked to our job or interests or sounds like our name, so beware!

I was never afraid of the dentist before, but now I’m a total tooth-hygiene-freak. Why? Because I’m a bit apprehensive that sometime during my next appointment, that mischievous little book will try to jump back in my arms again.
