the best of intentions....

she had the best of intentions to return my "lost" book to me

I left my book plastered with stickers: front, back and inside. If anyone picked it up, they could not possibly miss the BookCrossing stickers.

I was able to watch the release location for a while from where I stood, but eventually had to leave -- leaving my book there waiting to be discovered. I waited anxiously for word of its capture, even though I know that many books are never reported or may take months to check back in. Still, it was my first release and I was hoping for the best.

About 2 weeks later, I ran into an acquaintance who excitedly told me she had found the book I left on the table! She'd been carrying it around with her until she ran into me. She had recognized my name on the release sticker but hadn't read the rest of it and didn't realize what she had found! I tried to explain it, but she said she was too busy to read. I never did get the book back from her but hopefully she'll release it somewhere herself.
