I found this in a Little Free Library. I had heard about Joel Osteen, of course. Ross Douthat talks about him quite a lot in his book Bad Religion. I know that Osteen is somewhat controversial. I have heard him connected to "prosperity gospel", another concept, that's controversial, to put it mildly, in the Christian community.(Also his wife Victoria had a meltdown on an airplane a few years ago that didn't endear the Osteens.) I didn't read the book straight through, I admit, but I read several parts of it, and didn't really see anything I would consider "prosperity gospel."
