A thoroughly enjoyable read due in no small measure to the honesty of Gordon-Creed's account and Field's clear prose that fills in the odd gap or expands the narrative with factual details. The Asopos Viaduct episode recounts a particularly resonant feat and there are a few chilling moments interspersed with a dry wit and the overall frankness. Whilst at times it's necessarily "Boys Own" it never shys from the grim realities of death and killing, whether at a distance or face to face.
