Margaret Forster is one of my favourite authors. She is so good at turning the someone's everyday existence into something interesting that you just want to keep reading. There is a clever twist to this story where the author blends truth with fiction and leaves you guessing.

Given to me by my friend Snoopy56 when we met for tea and cake this afternoon. Thanks a lot-I will look forward to reading it, especially after recently really enjoying another book by the same author i.e. Have the Men Had Enough?

What a fantastic book. I just loved reading about Millicent's life through her diaries which were so well written and informative. I felt as if I was living her life with her and was totally unprepared for the ending of the book. (But no spoilers from me!) How sad for someone to have to live through two world wars and cope with so much tragedy and changes, although I realise she was not alone in that. This is the second novel I have read by this author and I will look forward to the next one.
I am reserving the book for 4 friends and relatives, all of whom I think
will also enjoy it.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

This book was given to my friend Sylvia when we met to celebrate her birthday. She may well pass it on to our mutual friend Audrey D. in due course and I'm hoping to get it back eventually to offer it as a bookray as I enjoyed it so much when I read it myself. But who knows where any bookcrossing book may journey to??
